River Studio Property

Located in one of the pristine river valleys of what is known as the "hilltowns" of western Massachusetts, Middlefield has the highest population of black bears in the state, which says a lot for the rural beauty of our area.  For those who make the journey it seems very much a search for treasure.

Originally, there were 5 acres of land.  My dear friends Jim and Natalie had purchased the other 10 acres of the field and built a timber frame "farm house" as well as the barn studio.  Jim's business in Boston, Mystic Scenic, a theater set design company grew (and continues to grow) at an incredible pace.  Jim and Natalie were coming out less and less and finally decided to sell me the property, including the beautiful timber frame house and the 4000 square foot barn studio.

One of the most asked questions when people come to visit is: "How did you find this place?."  The answer seems to be ultimately that I had faith that my art would lead me to the right place.  The rest of the answer lies in a mixture of miracles; family, friends, and even strangers believed in what I was doing.
