The work was first created in 1980 in a quarter life- size version.  It remains one of the artists' most popular works.  This version was created in 1991 and exhibited at the Clark Whitney Gallery here in Lenox.  The sculpture was conceived in the ballet studio in Denver when one of the dancers hit the wall on his last grande jete - it triggered the start of what Andrew calls his true gift - his visions in which the sculptures appear finished in his minds eye.
